Treacherous fog in the mountains
Well this is my first blog post on our new website. I thought I’d make it current and helpful.
As many of you know, our home and offices are in the beautiful San Bernardino Mountains. Route 66 has several alignments through these mountains and they can be treacherous at certain times of the year. Believe it or not, Spring can be the worst.
Yes, we get more than our share of snow, rain and sleet in the Winter but you usually get plenty of advance warning. Spring brings dense fog that can blow in quickly, reducing your visibility to almost 0 – with absolutely NO warning. You’re driving along under clear, blue skies and BAM, you can’t see your hood ornament. Several years ago, I had to open my door and lean down watching the yellow line as I crawled along. Talk about dangerous.
Today is one of those days, and tomorrow will be, too.
Please be careful up here. You can go to http://www.mountaininfo.com/webcams.html to see how the fog is.
